Before selling the old phone, do these 10 important things

Have bought a new smartphone and now you are planning to sell your existing or old Android smartphone. So do not be careless at all while selling the old phone, otherwise it can be costly. Today we are going to tell you what things you have to take special care of before selling the old Android phone. Check out our step-by-step guide.

1. Back up your contacts
If you are an Android user and use Google apps a lot, make sure you back up your contacts. If your contacts aren't already synced to a Gmail account, you can do so manually by visiting https://contacts.google.com/.

2. Back up your message and call records
Just like your contacts, you can also back up your message and call records. Your messages can be backed up using third-party software like SMS Backup & Restore. You can save your messages on Google Drive, create a backup for them and restore from there to your new phone. The same app can also be used to back up your call records.

3. Back up your photos, videos and other media files to the cloud or to an external device
You can either go for a cloud backup using Google Photos, Google Drive, Microsoft's OneDrive, Dropbox or any reliable cloud service or you can Can physically transfer media files to external hard drive or SSD.

4. Logout and remove all accounts before
factory reset Factory reset will erase everything on the smartphone but it does not log you out of Google account(s). So, make sure you log out of all Google accounts and other online accounts before going for the factory reset. You can check logged-in accounts by searching for "account" in phone settings or going to "accounts" through Gmail settings.

5. Check and remove microSD card
If you are using a microSD card, remove it from your phone. But first check that the data stored in it is safe.

6. Do not forget to remove the SIM card
Although you do not need to tell this thing, but still, do not forget to remove your SIM card.

7. Create WhatsApp Backup
To save your WhatsApp chats before switching to a new phone, create a chat backup from the WhatsApp settings on Google. You can choose whether or not to include certain files in your chats. Then when you do a fresh install of WhatsApp on your new device, you can restore the chat backup.

8. Check if your phone is encrypted
Before proceeding with the factory reset, check if your Android phone is encrypted. If not, you can do so manually through phone settings. Encryption makes it very difficult for someone else to access the data on your phone after a factory reset. Most new Android phones come already encrypted but older ones don't.

9. Do a factory reset
Now, when you are sure that you have backed up all the important files in your phone and it is encrypted as well, you can proceed to do the factory reset. Search for "reset" in phone settings and select "Erase all data (factory reset)". Doing so will erase everything on your smartphone.

10. Clean your old phone and put it back in the box with all the accessories; This will help you get a better price
The first thing you should do is wipe your old phone with a clean cloth preferably with a disinfectant solution. Not necessarily but just a tip to get rid of dust marks and all the bacteria accumulated on the surface of the device. We are assuming that you have the box and accessories of the old phone, which you got with the phone. Keep your phone and accessories inside the box. Now, you are ready to sell it.
